The Knoxville Police Department and Young-Williams Animal Center are investigating a suspected case of animal cruelty.
At around 7 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, YWAC Animal Services Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 809 E. Emerald Avenue, where two juvenile terrier mix-breed dogs had been abandoned. One of the dogs was found deceased with a bag tied over its head.
The other dog was alive and did not have any visible injuries, though a second bag like the one found tied over the head of the deceased dog was found on the property. A picture of that dog, which was transported to Young-Williams Animal Center, is below.

YWAC staff canvassed the area but were unable to locate anyone who recognized the dogs or had knowledge concerning the dogs’ owner.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can be eligible to receive a cash reward.
